While temping in Dean Vorenberg’s office in 1988, a chance meeting with Prof. Charles Ogletree lay the foundation for Maureen “Mo” Griffin’s tenure at Harvard Law School (HLS).

Inspired by Ogletree’s work, Mo accepted the position of Administrative Director of the Criminal Justice Institute (CJI), the curriculum-based criminal defense and juvenile justice clinic at HLS, founded by Ogletree in 1990. As Administrative Director Mo managed the day-to-day operations of CJI and organized several national conferences while working with a cadre of exceptional students and colleagues. As a middle sibling, Mo longed to learn formal mediation skills and in 2002, she trained with the Harvard Mediation Program (HMP). She then assumed the position of Program Administrator of HMP in 2003 and was promoted to Program Manager in 2011.

Alongside her managerial responsibilities, Mo works in close collaboration with student board members and fellow HMP and HNMCP colleagues; participates in a variety of trainings; and mediates regularly. Mo is energized by the HMP community of dedicated and talented students, staff, faculty, and community members and the many individuals who place their hope and trust in the mediation process. She is a graduate of Fitchburg State College (now Fitchburg State University) in Massachusetts where she majored in Communications/Media and pursued a career in public relations upon graduation.
