The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts has traditionally required congregations to cover 100% of the health insurance premiums of clergy and lay employees. This policy has been questioned of late and the conversation has become divisive, indicating that deeper issues than simply financial exist and are obstacles to good decision making. HNMCP students will facilitate a series of conversations to help surface the various interests, begin a deeper conversation about possible options, and produce a report for the wider community on its findings and analysis.… More

HNMCP will assist the Michigan State University College of Law in the creation of a peer mediation program to empower students to resolve their issues in an informal process that encourages shared communication, learning opportunities, and creative and lasting solutions and allows students trained in the current mediation certification courses to further develop and hone their skills. … More

Modria.com

Modria.com is an online dispute resolution (ODR) services and technology company that has led in the ODR field since its inception. This project focuses on Modria’s effort to help design an online dispute resolution system to meet the European Union’s mandate for an EU-wide single online platform for contractual dispute resolution. HNMCP students will provide a summary report of recommendations for the ODR system design.… More

Renmin University Law School

Renmin University Disability Law Clinic (DLC) engages with fledgling NGOs to empower students, faculty and volunteer lawyers working with disabled citizens and disabled persons organizations (DPOs). In an effort to help DPO representatives strengthen their ability to communicate effectively with government and other key decision makers, HNMCP students will create a negotiation and consensus building skills training for the Renmin DLC that will help equip leading DPOs with the tools necessary to achieve their advocacy goals.… More

U.S. Department of Transportation/Volpe National Transportation System Center

The Volpe Center, part of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), is working with Federal Railroad Administration to implement a confidential reporting system for “close calls” to help identify safety hazards. HNMCP will work with Volpe on the dispute resolution process that will be part of that reporting system.… More

U.S. Office of Special Counsel

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is a federal prosecutorial agency whose primary mission is to protect federal employees and others from “prohibited personnel practices” (PPP), including the deliberate targeting of whistleblowers for punishment. HNMCP students will assess the OSC’s current mediation program, offering critical analysis of and creative recommendations for how the OSC can best employ ADR to process cases. … More
