We in the alternative dispute resolution field mourn the passing of one of the founding founders of the the modern Kennedy School, Howard Raiffa, the Frank P. Ramsey Professor (Emeritus) of Managerial Economics.

HNMCP Director Bob Bordone says, “I am deeply saddened to learn of Howard’s passing. Howard was a legend in the negotiation field and one of the founders of the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. Although he was already retired by the time I was a student at Harvard Law School in the late 1990s, I had the honor of hearing him lecture and of getting to know him a bit. As a young student in PON’s Interdisciplinary Seminar on Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, I can remember faculty and students alike being spellbound by both his brilliance and his ability to make his deep insights and research accessible to students, practitioners, and other lay persons.”

A full remembrance can be found on the website for the Harvard Kennedy School.
